Just had a phone call from the two Arctic adventurers that they covered 600 km from Iqaluit South Baffin Island, Canada in just 4 hrs - a possible ultralight record since there have been only 2 ultralight flights over that line to date!!!! They left Iqaluit in great spirits. Arethey ever down???? Substantial tailwinds blew them over world-renown Pannirtung where they heard of dangerous surface mechanical turbulance. They flew at 9,000 asl est. most of the way. Weather is exc. there and they say local glaciers are breathtaking. They are re-fuelling and preparing to anchor the wings for the night as local winds can shift and surge suddenly - up to 130 km/hr on bad days in winter. They have contacts in town for food, info etc. Equipment and prep'n is tops. Info is available. They will obviously wait for prime weather conditions to over-fly Davis Strait.
