We took a bus tour of some parts of the Inca Sacred
valley. We visited a tourist market for us Gringos (white people not of Latin descent), Inca temples and related buildings of Pisaq, Inca terraces of Ollantaytambo, and a few Peruvian villages. It was a really great
day; I soaked up the cultural and historical experience. The last place we visited was the fantastic little village and Inca ruins of Chinchero, high in the Andean foothills – the height of the village is 12600 ft
asl. It was cold and the air so thin that the twenty steps up to the square took my breath away. In the west the sun was just setting among orange and pink clouds over the snow capped Andes peaks as we started the
drive back to Cusco. Looking east the full moon rose above the mountains and shone more brightly than I have ever seen it. I felt enchanted with this place.
